Laser Grading / Precision Grading: When You Need Accuracy

Laser grading (precision grading) uses laser controls and grade-checking to hit consistent elevations and slopes across a site. It's especially useful when you need:

• A building pad with tight elevation tolerances
• Driveway base prep that drains correctly
• A smooth, consistent finish prior to concrete or landscaping

What laser grading is used for

• Building pads and house pads
• Fine grading around foundations
• Driveway base shaping and drainage
• Final shaping of yards and swales (as part of drainage work)

The typical process

1. Define target elevations and drainage direction.
2. Rough grade to get close.
3. Precision grade with laser/controls.
4. Confirm slope, transitions, and tie-ins.

• How much cut/fill is needed
• Whether material import/export is required
